Gray eyes were the first thing he saw. Growing up with her, he’d looked into her face thousands of times and seen the plain, expected brown color of her eyes. The same color as his. Now it wasn’t. She’d grown up. She’d gotten gray contacts. She’d left him behind.
Still he smiled…

He stood up to pull her chair for her. And everyone in the diner surreptitiously watched them as the pretty, exotic young lady and the young gentleman fell in love.
